What we do

What we do.

Assess the home.

We walk the home and identify fall risks, accessibility concerns and maintenance issues before they become bigger problems.

Handle the small things.

Routine safety checks, batteries, bulbs, filters and minor maintenance, handled on a schedule.

Coordinate the bigger things.

When licensed or specialized work is needed, we help arrange appropriately licensed and insured independent contractors.

Keep families informed.

For out-of-town families, we are a trusted local presence with a clear update after each scheduled visit.

April Gloy, founder of Coastal Access Living
Meet April

A local Walton County partner you can trust with Mom's house.

April is a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), a designation from the National Association of Home Builders focused on home modifications for safe, independent living. Coastal Access Living helps Walton County families with home safety, accessibility, and ongoing care without the stress of managing every repair, contractor, and follow-up alone.

Licensed trade work is performed by licensed, insured third-party contractors. Improvement projects are quoted and approved separately from your membership.

What we look for

The everyday risks families usually miss.

A home safety walkthrough takes a careful, methodical look at the parts of the home that create most falls, injuries, and 2 a.m. phone calls.

  • Fall and trip hazards
Loose rugs, uneven thresholds, slippery transitions.
  • Bathroom safety
Slick tile, missing grab bars, hard-to-step tubs.
  • Lighting
Dark hallways, low-vision rooms, missing nightlights.
  • Entry and stairs
Weak handrails, broken steps, hard-to-open doors.
  • Grab bars and ramps
    Loose, missing, or improperly anchored.
  • Door and threshold width
    Wheelchair, walker, and rollator access.
  • Smoke and CO alarms
Dead batteries, expired units, missing detectors.
  • Maintenance gaps
Filters, bulbs, batteries, small repairs left undone.
