Family Advocacy & Care Navigation in Destin, FL.
Family advocacy and care navigation for Destin families, including the adult children who love a parent here from several states away.
Coastal Access Living is based in Freeport, Florida and serves Walton, Okaloosa, and Santa Rosa Counties. April Gloy is a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist who does this work in person. We are not a home care agency, a medical provider, or a law firm.
Local reality, not a generic checklist.
Destin is full of people who retired to the water and never intended to leave. Many arrived from the Midwest, the Southeast, or a military career, which means their children are usually somewhere else entirely. When a parent in Destin has a fall, a hospital stay, or a slow decline, the family calls start bouncing between siblings in different time zones while nobody is close enough to sit in the room.
The housing pattern matters too. A large share of Destin residences are condominiums and gated communities along the Emerald Coast Parkway and Holiday Isle, which introduces elevators, parking decks, front-desk staff, association rules, and rental neighbors. Coordinating home health, equipment delivery, or a bathroom modification in a Destin condo is a different job than doing it in a single-family home, and knowing that in advance saves weeks.
April is based in Freeport, roughly half an hour east, so a Destin family gets someone who can actually be there for the discharge meeting, the first home-health visit, or the follow-up with the cardiologist rather than someone coordinating by phone from another market.

One local advocate holding the whole picture.
Physicians, home health, the condo association, and three siblings each hold one piece. April holds the whole picture and keeps it written down so decisions are made once, not relitigated every week.
If you live in Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, or anywhere else, you get organized updates on what is actually happening in Destin, with your parent's authorization, instead of secondhand information after the fact.
Discharge decisions in this area move fast. We help your family understand the options, ask better questions, and get the nonclinical logistics arranged before the discharge date, not after it.
Home health agencies, private-duty care companies, equipment suppliers, and transportation providers all get coordinated and followed up on, and problems get flagged early rather than discovered later.
Scheduling, prepared questions, and follow-through on what an appointment actually produced. April can be present when the family wants her there. We do not provide transportation or clinical care.
When staying in the condo or the house is the goal, we plan the safety and accessibility changes that make that realistic, and coordinate the work with independent licensed and insured contractors.
Destin families most often move between the Destin-area emergency and hospital services, Fort Walton Beach and Niceville hospitals, and skilled nursing or rehabilitation facilities in Okaloosa County before coming home. We coordinate the nonclinical side of those moves so the family is prepared rather than reacting.
We do not provide medical care, nursing, personal care, transportation, legal advice, or financial advice. Advocacy and coordination are nonclinical services.
Frequently asked
Do you serve Destin if my parent lives in a condominium?
Yes, and it is one of the more common situations here. Condo living adds association rules, elevator and parking logistics, and front-desk access questions. We work through those with the association or property manager as part of the coordination. Approval timelines remain controlled by the association.
I live out of state. How would this actually work for me?
You would talk with April first, then we assess the situation and deliver a written plan you can act on with or without us. If you want ongoing help, April runs coordination locally in Destin and reports to the family members your parent has authorized us to update.
Do you also do home safety work in Destin?
Yes. Destin is inside our default area for home safety, accessibility, and aging-in-place work, including assessments, grab bars, bathroom safety, and coordination of licensed contractor work.
Is this home care or a medical service?
Neither. We do not provide caregivers, personal care, transportation, medical advice, or clinical services. This is nonclinical advocacy and coordination, sometimes called care management or private patient advocacy.
